Equity and B-BBEE
We’re very proud to announce that Aptronics is now a Level 1, Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) contributor, an achievement which marks a significant milestone in our transformation journey. And as this journey continues, we remain fully committed to making a meaningful and sustainable contribution to the growth of the South African economy.

We’re proud of the strides we’ve made in implementing what was intended by the spirit of the Codes of Good Practice – we’re committed to making a difference, from our approach to workforce diversification and our emphasis on skills development, to our supplier network, and creating value for the people of South Africa through enterprise development and our investment in the community.

Aptronics is a Level 1 BBBEE contributor and a Value Added Supplier which means that by partnering with us, you can obtain even more value out of your procurement spend – you can now claim 168.75% of your investment with Aptronics against your own Preferential Procurement scorecard. Our strong BBBEE status can provide you with a real advantage in an increasingly competitive business environment and together we can make a difference by supporting job creation, transformation and economic growth while helping to create a more skilled workforce.

Procurement and SMME Development
Aptronics is in the process of developing robust Preferential Procurement processes that influence both the purchasing behaviour of the company, as well as the understanding of our suppliers from a transformation perspective. Part of this journey includes the support and development of SMME’s and is underpinned by our Preferential Procurement Policy:

  • Affirmative procurement in Aptronics is based on a plan to facilitate B-BBEE. Implementation and progress is monitored by the organizations Board
  • The objective is to enhance long-term economic sustainability and viability of all parties
  • Despite the high priority and focus on B-BBEE, all transactions adhere to acceptable business practices and industry standards such as quality, timeous delivery and controls
  • Special internal arrangements are however made with respect to payment of B-BBEE SMME companies, particularly QSEs and EMEs (such as early/weekly payments, access to markets and procurement, payments not later than 7 or 15 days after date of invoice or delivery, etc.) to improve cash flow and alleviate financial pressures

Internship Program
As an empowered entity, Aptronics provides annual training and mentorship opportunities throughout the business to previously disadvantaged individuals. This program is part of the HP Business Institute initiative, and provides learners with the opportunity to gain work experience in their field of choice while receiving theoretical training from HP and MICT recognised learning institutes. As evidence of our commitment to this program, we regularly employ intern candidates to permanent posts within the Aptronics Group.

Employee Development
Aptronics is fortunate to enjoy a high skills retention rate. We believe this can be attributed to a strong internal focus on personal growth within the organisation. By giving staff the opportunity to advance their skills by earning certifications and tertiary qualifications in business and IT, we ensure that each and every member of the Aptronics family is afforded the opportunity to progress. Through a schools sponsorship program Aptronics is investing in the future, providing today’s learners with the opportunity to grown into tomorrow’s leaders.
